I've not touched that app in ages, so it's probably related to last weekend's upgrade to a new version of PHP. I'll investigate...

Thanks for letting me know.

I've still not got the Character Generator working (the other generators sort-of work fine with the new version of PHP...) but I have updated the links to DW resources on the Interweb - a few more links have died in recent months, condemning their content to eternal death in the heart of the Cauldron of Spyte, but I've dug up a few new links to reviews and play-throughs that might distract anyone hoping to see new content (or working apps...):

More updates to follow soon :).

I've finally figured out the problem - support for one of the PHP functions the generator uses has been dropped in the latest version so I need to do a little re-coding with the new functions to get this working again. Sadly, I use this function in *A LOT* of places, so it might take me a few days to get it all working tikkity-boo-tastically again. I'll post another update when it's fixed.

The other apps don't use this function, so they still seem to be working fine.

Looks like I spoke too soon
I'm going to need to unpick a few more things, I think, to get it back to working properly, but it's past my bedtime now - I'll have another stab at it tomorrow!

Definitely fixed now and, dare I say it, improved - I've corrected a couple of errors in the code that I hadn't spotted before (very much edge cases around some of the Players' Guide content).

It has shown me how desperately I need to work on these apps, though, as I suspect it wouldn't take much to break it again...

Any more problems, let me know.

Over the past couple of months, I've focused on cosmetic, typographical, and w3.org validation issues on the Cobwebbed Forest, which I have now completed :). There's always more I could do and, inevitably, things I've missed but, hopefully, you'll notice an improvement in the site's content, layout, and performance - there have been lots of under-the-covers improvements in how the PHP builds each page and the database tables, which should make it easier to add more content in the future, too.

This is just the first phase of a 7-phase improvement programme, and phase 2 now begins with a review of the long content and PDFs (of which there are 59 to download from the Forest!), as part of which there will be more than just a refresh/republishing of existing content; there will be new content too :).

Excellent work.

But for the character sheet, GM reference tables, and the adventures (Hollow Men, Best Laid Plans, and my updated SKG adventures), all of the Dragon Warriors downloads on the Cobwebbed Forest have had a bit of a polish. The biggest changes are probably in the Combat reference sheet, which has had an extra page of stuff added to it. Otherwise, most (but not all!) of the changes are cosmetic, grammatical, or made to enhance clarity, consistency, and accuracy of the content.

https://www.cobwebbedforest.co.uk/downloads/

There's a lot wrong (well, not a lot, but some things...) with the GM reference tables so that'll be a project for another time, as will the queue of new downloads on which I'm working (for example, new adventures and new profession summaries for the Hunter, Knave, Priest, and, because someone asked for it, the Necromancer).

Check 'em out and let me know what you like/don't like and whether there's anything you were hoping I'd be publishing in the near future :).

Hi Lee, love your work as always. I was reading your reference sheet on Guile and Conviction. I may have missed something but what are the starting values for the different professions? And are there ability modifiers to these scores?
Thanks,
Nick

You haven't missed anything - the starting scores for each profession are in the profession packs (that I've not yet made available from the Forest but hope to do soon...) - as a general design principle, all secondary ability score roles are based on 2d10 and all first rank characters have a 50/50 chance against an equivalent character (so, for example a first-rank knight has a 50% chance to hit another first-rank knight in combat).

As for modifiers to Guile and Conviction from the primary ability scores:

Int 3-5: -2 Guile
Int 6-8: -1 Guile
Int 13-15: +1 Guile
Int 16-18: +2 Guile

PT 3-5: -1 Conviction
PT: 16-18: +1 Conviction

Presence 3-5: -2 Conviction; -1 Guile
Presence 6-8: -1 Conviction
Presence 13-15: +1 Conviction
Presence 16-18: +2 Conviction; +1 Guile

Why all the disconnected information? Because these are all extracts from my "Dragon Warriors v2" that I play with my group and some of it still contains copyrighted information, so I can't just publish the whole thing. I will definitely include the above information in the next iteration of the Guile & Conviction sheet, though, as I think it's incomplete without it (and isn't prorprietary). This is also why the information tends not to include my latest play-tested updates (I make the updates to the main rules document, but don't change the website content as frequently - be a lot easier if they were the same document!)

Shout if there's anything else you spot that could do with some attention from the Wand of Clarity :).
