As some of you know I ran an online campaign for a while set in Hudristania. Some of the detail I created was original, some of it inspired by other sources.

Over the years I've also written a couple of professions, a few spells, new skills etc. basically what most of us that have run games have done.

Anyway I've decided to try bring it all together to create a Hudristania book. It's going to take a little while, by little I mean for ever, but I hope to do something a bit "Elven Crystals" or "Prince of Darkness" in that to show you the region they give you a guided tour, except it won't just be scenarios.

Anyway that's the rough plan to start with. I'm sure it will mutate along the way like all good plans do.

Well as Bilbo said, "I'm off on an adventure!"

Sounds like an excellent idea! Shout if you need any help - I'm not exactly an expert on Romanian folk-lore, but I'm always game to help out a DW project if there's one going :).

I'm far from expert as well so there will be a lot of research and a healthy dose of poetic license.

That's what I get for trying to run a Goth horror campaign...

Once I start to get some meat on the bones of my idea I'll start posting updates. Any feedback on those will be well appreciated.

I guess where I'll need the most help in the future will be art and maps, not that I'm anywhere near that stage yet.

But any recommendations on a source of free fantasy illustrations would be great!

I'm happy to help with overland and dungeon maps - my city mapping is still 'in development' shall we say, but I know Shaun (Dreadnought on here) makes a mean urban map.

A good place to start is art shared using a Creative Commons licence. Try searching here:

Yeah, I keep putting off doing an art quest for Thousand Islands cos I know its damn hard finding decent Malay/Indo Fantasy art that you have to pay for...finding it for free is going to be interesting....though I have a few amateur artist friends that might be willing to throw me a bone. :)

Should I dump my stuff from the wiki that I think might be useful to you here?

No It's ok I can sift through the wiki stuff when I get some time.

I've gathered together the two professions I wrote on the wiki plus the creatures I had on there. I've grabbed all my electronic notes from the old game that could be used and have added a lot research note on Romanian folklore & monsters. I'm at 36 pages of info to sort through and build on so far. I still have a lot of old hand written notes to add in as well.

So I'm looking at:
chapters for new professions, 2 so far but maybe 3
chapter on creatures
Chapter on history/folklore
chapter on people and places (friends or foes style?)
chapter on living in Hudristania, the local feudal system etc,
Chapters for new scenarios, 3 or 4 in mind.

That's my initial thinking but it may well end up something very different...

There does my social life for a year or two.

Of cause at some point I'll also read the other projects on here and give feedback as well...
