From IC:

OOC: Upstairs.
1. Is Malim sleeping here? It seems he was sleeping in a curtained off area to the rear which you assume was Olmar and Ngelas bedroom. But he's currently slumped on the stool...asleep? or just dozing, hard to tell.
2. How many men with him in the room? All asleep? At this time 8 asleep. The 4 others have departed downstairs elsewhere. Aku is not sure where they've gone exactly.
3. How many asleep in various states of drunkenness? How many still alert and sleeping normally? The 4 younger ones are about 12 pints into slumber, the 4 older men have had 3 pints and are dozing but by Aku's reckoning not in deep sleep.
4. How's Malim's state himself? Malim drank a lot...he's currently drooling on the headmans stool.

OOC: Downstairs
1. How many men here? How many sleeping? 2 of the 4 mercs are sleeping down here along with 12 or so servants on cots and mats.
2. How many asleep in various states of drunkenness? How many still alert and sleeping normally? From Aku's estimation they drank only 2-4 pints and are sleeping normally.
3. Guards outside the main hall? Guards near the main hall? The 2 other guards stand here, they are fairly alert but they are younger and slightly distracted by some of the sleeping servants whose wraps have shifted up while they sleep. They do look over the open area at the doors and beyond though and the doors have been opened tonight as its no longer raining.
How's their level of alertness?

Oh great, lets lift their weapons whilst they're drunk. That'll make them decide quicker.

Based on Mthunzi's earlier scouting, the Company in the forest knows the disposition of Malim's men as:
2x guards at Jungle Gate (bridge over river; where Aku entered)
4x guards at Trade Gate
4x guards on roving patrol in pairs
6x men in longhouse

Actual disposition Aku observes:
(GM can we say that Mthunzi and the Company took advantage of the daylight hours to keep observing the enemy, hence they know some if not all of this info too?)
2x guards at Trade Gate (guessed, not actually seen)
2x guards at Jungle Gate
2x guards at longhouse entrance
2x guards sleeping inside longhouse
8x guard sleeping in upper room
Malim sleeping in upper room

The Company has 8 men:
Warriors: Kubluu, Pulgil, Mthunzi, Olmar, 2x volunteer warriors
Wisemen: Ammu, Chiemeka

My humble suggestion is:
1. split into 2 groups of 4,
2. quietly take out the guards at the gates,
3. meet together at the longhouse,
4. quietly take out the guards at entrance,
5. make contact with Kgosinela and get the old woman (Kgosinela's trusted servant) to create a distraction (can consider setting a fire somewhere near longhouse using dried branches and leaves, then yell "Fire! Douse the flames!") to draw Malim and gang to rush out,
6. Company ambushes Malim and his men as they rush out.

Except for Mthunzi who is skilled at sneaking, it's probably better for the rest of us to create some noise and draw the guards into an ambush.

To avoid too much bloodshed (so that after the fight things can more easily be resolved without excessive bad memories or even bitterness and fear created), can try to knock out and tie up, instead of drawing blood and killing. However it is harder to do so. Kubluu's call here.

I am kinda aware that except for Mthunzi and Ak'kulula, actually Kubluu and the rest aren't quite pre-disposed towards this dagger and cloak stealth attack plan. Please consider what I wrote as just my personal suggestions.

However, I do believe it is quite appropriate IC that Kubluu takes the lead in tactical decisions and actual leadership of this attack. In the same vein, I believe too that the rest of us are somewhat obliged, by societal norms as well as Kubluu's personal charisma (Looks 13), to follow his leadership. Well, some of us may feel a greater obligation and some lesser, but still...

Well....this is fun....but factoring in alcohol and sleep all of those are successes except Steal to the back of hall and considering lighting conditions they're not going to know it wasn't just a servant moving about or someone off to relieve themselves. The climb out the window...well, I guess window is the best word but its basically a removable piece of cladding... was the crucial one as that would have put you on collision course with a guard patrol so well done.

:D ;) Thanks for the leniency GM! Else this poor lad would have died a thousand times over with those rolls!

So far so good! So his half-baked scheme may actually succeed!

Kuublu moves in. We're removing weapons where possible and sneaking. If confronted Kuublu will make his way to Malim with the others. He will greet them. If they can get away with it, best get the villagers to tie up these soldiers we disarm.

Just to clarify what you want to do Kharille:

- Kubluu leads the team into the village.
- For each encounter with Malim's men, you are going to take a stealthy approach to subdue them, possibly by trying to steal their weapons.
- If confronted (by Malim's men?) you put on your game face and best smile and go see Malim together with them.
- Villagers (presumably they come behind your assault team) are to tie up Malim's men who have been subdued by the team.

Did I understand you rightly?

Just 2 comments:
1. If you are discovered, whether in the act of sneaking or stealing, you will probably either be captured as prisoners of Malim, or you might choose to fight it out. That greeting part...do you mean to adopt a friendly and nice attitude towards Malim as his prisoners?

2. Villagers are untrained civilians who are going to make a whole lot of noise moving anywhere. It's probably impossible by any measure to get them together and organized so as to follow quietly behind your team in your stealthy village assault. The probable "best way" to make use of the villagers is as a (noisy?) display of rebellion against Malim and a show of support for Olmar's return.

Well, if they're really drunk we'll just remove their weapons. Hold a blade to their throats. Only when there is a confrontation do we resort to conversation

Not sure if we can fit that many villagers in this building, and I don't expect them to get stuck in. Perhaps one of the other players can coordinate them and tell them when to cheer and all.

Very few GMs allow evil characters. You usually play Chaotic Neutral?
