Do I know what this thing is? my gut reaction is to back away slowly, not showing it our backs but not posing a threat to it (like with a bear), but if I know it's particularly violent or predatory then it might be better to send the civilians running with an escort and have some others try to draw it away from the main group.

You have never seen any of the things that live in the Forest of Storms, nobody sane comes in here.

If the description wasn't on point enouth its basically resembles a cross between a Kiwi and a Baryonx.
