Ak'kulula enters the strange rock-hut with the familiarity and posture of a servant of the master of the place. He stops just inside the hut beside the entrance and turns to look at the party, waiting patiently until everyone of them have come in and found a seat. Seeing that the guests, all five of them, are more or less comfortably seated, he moves to a spot beside the ancient woman where he squats down comfortably.

The stranger with the proud noble bearing of a warrior speaks. And as the old woman begins her tale in answer, Ak'kulula's studies each of the five guests in turn, his dark eyes seeing more in their mannerisms, gestures, and eyes than in their words.

As the tale draws to a close, Ak'kulula turns to the old woman, his eyes looking at the strangers. His words come out in a soft enquiring tone, almost shyly. "Nana...who they?"

The ancient woman leaned forward and pointed at each of them in turn, " This is Kuublu, he is a prince and his cousin has been taken by Mother of Moons."

" This is Chiemeka, a priest and healer from the far north."

" This is Pulgil, her people are the River People from near the great water in the North-East."

" This is Ammu from the South-West lands. He shares the Gift with yourself and I."

" And this is Mthunzi, who has washed his hands in the Great River and looks to the future."

The lad wrinkles his nose, grimaces and shakes his head slowly in an expression of sorrow.

"How we help Mother of Moon find peace?"

He lifts his eyes and looks hopefully at the old woman.

"Nana you know."

Mthunzi feels pleased the old woman acknowledges his cleaning habits, although it has been a while since he last washed his hands... as for looking to the future, well he is always looking for an opportunity if that is the same thing.

Patting his sheathed sword, to the young lad he confidently says "I know how to bring her peace".

Then looking to his companions he says "Ghost stories aside, our job is to safely return Kgosi Olmar... we are being distracted from our true purpose here. We should move on."

Chiemeka places a hand on Mthunzi's shoulder.

"While we cannot afford to delay, this woman may have knowledge that can help us defeat the Moon witch. It take more than just your sword..."

Aunt Nansi nods to Chiemeka and shuffles across the room pulling a sack from under a broken piece of crystal. With shaking hands she reveals an ancient machete. The blade is snapped and rusted. You can make out a strange sigil engraved on the sides of the blade. She hands it to Kuublu.
“’This is the weapon that took Mother of Moons husband and the child. Show her this.’ She then takes off a leather necklace and hands it to Chiemeka.

’It won’t save you, but it might keep her back for atime,’ she murmurs. Through the crack, you are suprised to see through the clouds that the sky is lightening from black to azure blue. Daybreak is fast approaching.

"We are very thankful. I wonder whether it is tied to the original bearer, the perpetrator of this crime. If vengeance is to be had it should be directed at those responsible and not innocents."

"The blade itself is not to blame, but the wielder. Her husband died in honourable combat, but was it appropriate to wield it against a child? We must remind future generations in song of the grave misdeeds and the tragedies that arise from such gross breaches of decency. Perhaps past generations lacked such values."

As the ancient woman dispenses her wise words and her gifts to the guests, Ak'kulula listens attentively, his dark eyes studying the gifts carefully.

He marvels at what appears to be five strangers from different lands, different peoples, each having different inclinations and great powers, and yet all seem to be joined together in this one purpose, this one mission - to stop the Mother of Moons from spiriting away the soul of yet another newborn baby, and to save a chieftain by the name of Kgosi Olmar and bring him back to his people.

Looking into the eyes of each in turn, he points at himself, then gestures towards the party.

"Ak'kulula go with. Help."

He looks up at the dawn about to break forth, then lowers his head to look expectantly at Kubluu, the one Nana had pointed out as a Prince.

"We welcome your help. The living must do what they can to put the dead to rest, ease their pains and to support the barriers between our world, and theirs."

Turns to Aunt Nansi.

"Where is the Mother of Moons? How will we find her? Is her spirit bound to a resting place?"
