Ak'kulula looks over the edge of the plummet and peers down into the darkness, he notes the light coming up is diffused by a layer of mist some 50m down...as to how far below that mist the bottom is? He sees no existing way down but it seems it would be easy enough the secure a rope and climb down.

Ak'kulula observes the mist for a moment...

OOC - Is it moving? Is it white? And does it emit a magical aura?

Casting around for an anchor to secure the rope to, Ak'kulula spies a rock outcropping jutting out from the ground. He takes the rope from Kubluu, and proceeds to tie one end securely to the rock. The other end he carries over to the edge and throws it down the cliff.

He watches as the Prince grabs the rope firmly, swings over the cliff edge and begins his descent. The lad follows behind the Prince.

Chiemeka will remain at the top for now, keeping watch.

As Kuublu climbs carefully down the rope, Ak'kulula notes that the mist is similar to that found over forest rivers and ponds on cool mornings there appears to be nothing supernatural about it.

Ak'kulula follows him down.

Etwa stayed up top with Chiemeka and Pulgil guarded the two men.

................................

Kuublu + Ak'kulula:

At last, after blindly descending through the thick mist, you reach the bottom and touch down in
the vast cavern.

You stand on a sandy shore studded with stalactites which sparkle with light from small crystal inclusions.

A massive island of black stone lies just offshore, extending hundreds of metres into the distance surrounded by midnight black waters, suddenly Ak'kulula tenses as his keen eyes note a slight movement....the island is very slowly but very perceptively....breathing.

In the shallower water between the 'island' and the shore are a large number of golden objects; statues, plates etc.

Standing on the shore is a black stone obelisk.*

*Ak'kulula: For the briefest moment when you looked at the obelisk you saw a statuesque nude woman with heavy scarification and a shaved head holding a ceremonial staff aloft.

Kuublu washes his face in the water. He takes an interest in any nearby shiny objects...

Ak'kulula nudges Kubluu. "Highness...the island appears...alive..." The lad looks around at the golden objects. "In fact...this looks like a treasure room...or lair of something big...huge..." His voice quavers slightly in awe...and anticipation. He takes a closer look at the breathing island...

The lad blinks, rubs his eyes and looks again at the black obelisk...

Kuublu blinks as he stares ahead.

"Perhaps we had better leave. A man can only carry so many burdens. Wealth being one of them. We can come back if necessary."

Ak'kulula glances up at Kubluu, a perplexed look on his young face. "Highness...perhaps we should just explore this place alittle and find out more? Before we...leave...?"

He edges closer to the black obelisk to take a closer look. After that he will study the "island" for abit, shifting position on the beach in order to look at it from different perspectives...

"As you wish."

Kuublu stands guard. If there is any shiny stuff nearby he is inclined to pick it up.

Having heard nothing since Kuublu and Ak started their climb, Chiemeka calls down to them:

"Are you all right, your Highness?"

The obelisk is made of slick black stone, featureless except for a small carving in the upper portion:

As he turns towards the 'island' he notes it is about 3m across but extends out into the black waters as far as his eyes can see, a strange aura lies about it....not the magics he is used to perceiving but something far older and more primal.
