Moving carefully through the undergrowth and using the smoke to cover as much as possible the trio determined that their initial observations had been correct and the pivot-gate was the only visible means of entrance and exit.

The huge buttress trees looked climbable though it would not be fast and would probably leave one a slow and easy target for archers stationed in the ball-nest like structures..

The trio watched and observed as the night grew darker, torches were placed atop the walls they could see and somewhere within a large fire or number of fires were lit....but no patrols emerged.

It was Kuublu who noted barely, by the faint torchlight, figures moving up the trees from the top of the wall and disappearing into the canopy returning laden with something to the top of the wall and disappearing again.

The jungle was alive with the calls of frogs, insects, bats and night-birds.

As the darkness became almost total, the star and moonlight hidden by the thick foliage, all three men heard faint.....quiet, but the ground beneath them trembled a little footsteps approaching. Kuublus tracking abilities determined whatever was approaching was moving on two strong legs, every minute or so there was a deep thrumming vibration which seemed to shake his bones, but he could see nothing....though it must be quite close. He was confused....until suddenly about 100m away and about 10m up there was an unmistakable long slow indraw of breath as if something was sniffing the air....

"Tracker?" Kuublu hisses to the others.

OOC: Not sure what has nightvision, but these things use torches so he assumes the guards can't see too well, maybe the cover of darkness would help their climb. He's thinking of climbing, but perhaps after knocking out this tracker first. Kuublu waits. Anyone got any suggestions?

Uruka gestures that he is willing to wait for the tracker to come closer broke killing him.

The three men wait to ambush the presumed tracker or scout, the low frequency thumping sound shakes through their bones, and they peer into the pitch darkness trying to make anything out.

Kuublu sees a tree seemingly thrown aside suddenly and then another takes its place, he narrows his eyes trying to make sense of the shadowy images....slowly, slowly he raises his head and notes it is even darker above than it had been, the foliage is lower than before....have the trees moved? What is this? Then his mind solves the problem...and he kind of wishes it hadn't....it is not foliage..but feathers...and it is not two trees...but two armoured grey-brown legs...the buttress roots three gargantuan claws...the head and neck blocking the light above turns slightly to the side to regard the three morsels....a black beak longer than Kuublus body and wider than his arm span clacks together deafeningly close as an intelligent, amber eye regards them from above.....

Kuublu stands motionless until it takes an action. He's inclined to pretend hes a plant...

Uruka readied himself to fight, hoping he will survive

Kuublu gives Uruka and Chimera a brief glance before gesturing them to run with a panicked waving of his hand. Lets run towards and around the building...
