Uruka learns from the prince on how to deal with the king and present himself appropriately

The trader placed the pelt in a sealed container of a liquid that smelled rather acrid to Jaafan and told him it must stay there for a minimum of two days. He went to work on the bones, he went to a large heavily sealed chest in his wagon and opened it carefully placing all the bones within. In the middle of the night he woke and carefully removed the now cleaned and polished bones from the chest with one or two pained yells and hurried brushing of his hands as he did so. He then placed the bones in a metal tray and poured a strong smelling liquid over them that caused his eyes to water.

He left the bones and went to sleep.

........................................

Kuublus etiquette lessons went on into the late evening and then everyone went to sleep, Jaafan was joined by both the cub and Bathwanda....he received bites from both.

........................................

Morning broke and the camp readied itself to leave, the old man approached Kuublu and Jaafan advising that it would be another day or so before their items were ready but that he could do the work in the cart while his son drove.

A hearty meal of roasted millet, dried fish and kenkey.

The procession of soldiers, villagers and merchants set off once again.

Kuublu keeps a watchful eye. Though there has not been any recent attacks, a raid would be troublesome. Does he know much about these roads?

Jaafan finds himself in a good mood. The cub is becoming more used to the presence of humans, and his time with Bathwanda is invigorating.

The etiquette lessons are less then interesting to him, but he sits through them quietly, even if he has no intention of keeping them in mind if/when it does come time to meet with the king. After all, a man is a man no matter the number of those who bow to him.

To the craftsman Jaafan is amicable and patient. He saw no real rush to get the hide completed, so the man and his son could handle it as they wished.

On the road Jaafan remained toward the rear, far enough behind that the cub would not be frightened by or a danger to the many travelers in the caravan.

Kuublu knows that this is the main trade route east of the empire , it is by no means the busiest or most important but does bring a number of rainforest products to the Empire.

Kuublu will lead the group. Probably more danger with arguing merchants than bird warriors on this route.

Uruka follows closely behind the party protecting the sorcerer.

As the ever growing procession travelled along the road towards the town of Kiongozi over the next few days the tanner finished his work and presented Kuublu and Jaafan with their items.

The cub was now content to travel at the side of the others and pleasant nights were spent in singing and taletelling around fires with full bellies.

Finally the town of Kiongozi came into view, the imposing daub and stone fort of the same name overlooking it from the hilltop above.

As you enter the large town you note wide roads, the smooth flow of foot traffic and well-kept buildings. The procession is stopped at the gate but waved through with on a perfunctory check. The procession begins to disperse; villagers off to find relatives and the soldiers up towards the fort.

People throng the market place, merchant stalls, hawkers, shoppers and other folk.

Kuublu pays 1 silver to the Tanner and thanks him for a job well done. If he shows any sign of irritation Kuublu will ask what is the fair price for a... what felt like a days work.....

Better make that 2 silver since he did the leather job. Does my AF go up by 1?

Kuublu asks Bathwanda to take the troops to their station, not sure if Barracks is the correct term. He will head to the main building/castle and request and audience with the Chief.

After spending his life wandering from village to village, this is the largest town Chiemeka has ever seen. Unless Kuublu needs him for the audience with the Chief, Chiemeka will spend some time wandering and marvelling at the buildings, the fort, the number of people, etc.
