Kuublu thanks the... town chief. He will do what he can to arrange for troops.

When seeing Chiemeka Kuublu reassures him everything is alright:

"Fine. Things almost seem to fall in place. Now I need to get some troops moving."

Time to head to the fort.

As Kuublu climbed up toward the fort he noted it was somewhat larger than others he had seen, he'd glimpsed it on the way through but not inspected it in detail.

The walls of the fort were composed of stacked stones interspersed with daub and supplemented with hardwood poles and planks, the walls were about 10m in height and the gate was open and manned by two men in leather skirts and large oval hardwood shields and spears. As Kuublu approached the two men went to attention, " State your business."

Then one of the men grinned, " Kuublu? Uh, My Prince?"

Looking closer at the man Kuublu realised that it was Tillyo, the son of his neighbour from Igodomi.

Jaafan held back a ways from the gates of the fort. He’d Heard of the walls and forts of more settled populations then his own tribal folk, but his experience with the Volucreth fort had made him wary of walls and armed guards. He was uncomfortable enough being in such a large town, he felt no need to surround himself with armed men.

He scratched the pup’s head idly as he waited.

Kuublu greets Tillyo warmly. He wil skip the formal introductions assuming the other guard is happy to permit entrance.

Kuublu gives a 3 minute description of events to Tillyo and asks him about recent events.

Tillyo looked slightly concerned at Kuublus news of his travels, " Nothing of that sort around here. Its been pretty quiet, that'll change now that Igosa Bathwanda is back....she's a little intense."

" You should probably head in and tell the commander."

"In times of peace, we become too content and don't build our walls high enough. I had hoped that we could've learned the ways of the Selentine, the stories I heard of them conquering mountain fortresses and pacifying distant tribes with stones that fell from the heavens! We remain on the defensive while the Volucreth attack at whim. I would suggest we start attacks into their territory..."

Kuublu pauses, his eyes momentarily widen at the thought.... he inhales deeply....

"...but even the Jungle becomes angry. The nature spirits fight any intrusion into the great jungle."

Kuubl breaks off. Looks at Tillyo and smiles. He knows the topic is disheartening.

"We will think of something. It seems they are taking slaves, perhaps we can attack the slave traders, deprived of wealth, they would have nothing to trade for slaves and these raiding parties will cease."

Tillyo looked a little worried but directed Kuublu and any accompanying him through the gate and into the fort.

Within the stone courtyard of the fort was well kept and the barracks lay across the way, there was no one present except for a couple of men leaning against a small wooden building set against the interior of the wall, they came to attention as Kuublu approached and rapped on the wall with the butt of their spears as they did so.

A large man in his 50s emerged from the building his stomach sagging a little over his wrap though his arms and shoulders were still broad. His head was shaved and a squared beard jutted from his jaw.

" Hmm, who is this then? I wasn't informed of any visitors or deliveries today."

Kuublu gives the formal introduction. The long 3 minute version where he describes his place as somewhere in the 60th of the many sons of the great chief. Does he recognize who this guy is?
