"Sounds dangerous. We best be careful when we encounter them," Uruka says.

Jaafan grinned at the old woman and bowed his head in thanks. Turning to his traveling companions he spoke, saying, ”If these beings pry their prey from the ground then all we need do is travel through the trees. Simple enough. Now we must choose a direction.”

If nobody objects Kuublu proposes that we enter the forest. Preferably via some known road, perhaps we can ask for directions when we're lost....

Chiemeka nods and prepares to follow Kuublu into the forest.

The group moved off the trade road and into the forest trying to make their way towards the centre of the area of jungle, moving carefully so as to not make too much noise as they passed.

After only a few hour’s march through the dense wet rainforest you begin to glimpse blackened stone through the trees and soon find yourselves at the walls of an ancient citadel.

Built of monolithic blocks of blackened limestone, covered in eons of lianas, orchids and moss the place is of a strange architecture you find utterly alien.

You work your way around the perimeter attempting to find a way in, eventually finding a void where great wooden gates used to stand but are now tumbled and rotting on the ground.

Stepping between the broken timbers of the gate, your awe and fear grow ever stronger. This is truly a place of death. Strewn about the entrance and across the plaza are countless mouldered human bones.

Suddenly you note something, in the shadow of the arch sits an ancient looking gorilla...its thin, white fur waves in a strange cool breeze that seems to circle the plaza. His blind eyes stare out beyond you, into the shadowed forest without.

Stealth: 2d10 4 Success.

Uruka draws his blade and prepares to defend himself from the gorilla.

The huge old ape breathes in deep its nostrils twitching as Uruka moves, then...impossibly words uttered forth from a throat not designed to speak them, “Begone, man-filth. This is a cursed place. Death lies in wait here for those who love not our Lord.”

"Hail good gorilla, Sir! I am Uruka not man filth. May I ask who do you serve? Why is this a cursed place? Can we help?" Uruka asks.

Kuublu is startled but keeps his Assegai lowered.

"Perhaps we too can learn to appreciate your Lord! Death comes to all and nobody can escape the embrace of mother earth when the time arises!"

Jaafan is less startled by the talking ape then others might be. The spirits of the nature around them had strange and mystical properties, and who was Jaafan to question the existence of a talking gorilla? Of course, that did not mean he expected the beast to be friendly or diplomatic. He balked at the suggestion that they were looking for a lord to serve, but he kept quiet, without drawing any weaponry. Perhaps the words of his companions might gain some information, and if not, flight was always an option.
