Kuublu springs into warrior stance. Despite overwhelming odds and a high chance of total humiliation he stands, rigid, with in a fixed stance ready to receive a charge, if there were 100 men...

As it is, he stands motionlees and glancing at Chastu....

OOC: drinking.... lets do descriptions later....

Chastu chuckles to himself as he looks at Kuubluu. The prince hadn't changed that much.

Chastu grabs his old friend's arm and says "You should meet my fellows. This is Jafari. He's one of the best hunters I've ever met. And Bubasti, a man of few but considered words."

Chastu is a nondescript minor noble. What anyone looking at him would take away is that he is slow, is a warrior and has a large blue talisman around his neck.

Uruka stands by the prince with his weapon and shield ready. He finds the newcomers friendly but still one can’t be too careful.

Kuublu drops his javelin and warmly embraces Chastu.

"It has been so long! A lot has happened since I left the garrison!"

Kuublu briefly mentions all the things that have happened from rabid leopards/?hyenas, pacifying undead, Malim's assignment, Buzwe (honourable death) and jokes about his bone augmented armour. He introduces the members of the party and mentions the recent quest to find Lord Kalama.

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=395&start=530

“Centuries ago, Kalama and his ninety sons were driven by evil sorcery from their homelands in the north, and a curse placed upon them that they wander the land until they could find a great city built of of wood which touched both the sky and the ground and ruled over by a queen whose halls ran with liquid gold. After years of journeying, Lord Karvala saw a man harvesting honey from an enormous Muyovu tree. He thanked the gods for the sign and built a citadel around the tree where he and his sons ruled and many came to visit the great forest kingdom. At the last Kalama surrounded his home with a high wall to keep out attackers and enemies. Here he dwelt with his sons, and the sons of his sons."

“From the east there came a new people, our people, with new laws and new gods. Kalama took himself to his citadel and shut himself within, saying that he must ponder how to punish these newcomers. But the Great Bull of that age asked his witches to bewitch Kalama so that he fell into a deep sleep and could not trouble the Empires people. And they set wards about his tower, and locks of sorcery upon its doors, and slew his followers so that none might free him. Then they ruled this land until this day."

“But Kalamas gods were enraged that the one they had chosen to rule should be thus set aside. They sent storm and plague and earthquake to trouble the citadel, until the mighty walls that Karvala had built fell at last, and the jungle and the Sasabonsam krept in. Still Kalama did not wake, and in honour of him it was decreed that none should dwell in his citadel till he comes again to choose those most worthy.”

"This citadel lies within this forest, but none who seek it ever return."

Kuublu searches his memory and has heard the name Kalama before, usually as an evil ogre or witch in nursery tales he heard as a child but he had no idea the name had roots in history...if indeed the old woman is not just spinning a tale.

Jafari is a big man standing at somewhere over 6'6" and weighing 120 kg and a physique that looks like it has been carved out of stone his heavily scarred especially his upper body and face/head look like its been mauled by a crocodile ( which it has) his hair only grows in patches due to scar tissue.

Those patches he has are long braided and decorated with volucreth feathers he carries a number of weapons and wears some impressive hide armour.

" It is a pleasure to meet you, My Prince."

Kuublu expresses delight at meeting Jafari and Bubasti. With the rise of Volucreth attacks, men need to work together to protect the innocent and protect the livelihoods of the common people.

"We were investigating the last known resting place of Kalama, perhaps later generations can end the ancient hatreds and put the dead to rest."

Kuublu proposes that they return to the citidel of Kalama.

"Well, my brave prince, let's be off to this citadel. You can tell us more of your adventures as we go on."

Chiemeka is a thin, you might almost say scrawny, individual, dressed in simple clothes and carrying an ebony staff.

Assuming that Kuublu's friends are also important royalty, he bows to each of them individually.

Chastu takes the time to bow to his new acquaintances. He's sure he'll grow to call them friends.

Chastu is very optimistic. Life is good.

The group, now seven strong, headed back along the path of broken brush the fleeing men had left.

After only ten minutes march through the dense wet rainforest you begin to glimpse blackened stone through the trees and soon find yourselves at the walls of an ancient citadel.

Built of monolithic blocks of blackened limestone, covered in eons of lianas, orchids and moss the place is of a strange architecture you find utterly alien.

You work your way around the perimeter attempting to find a way in, eventually finding a void where great wooden gates used to stand but are now tumbled and rotting on the ground.

Stepping between the broken timbers of the gate, your awe and fear grow ever stronger. This is truly a place of death. Strewn about the entrance and across the plaza are countless mouldered human bones.

The shadow of the arch is empty....
