"Our first teeasure!"

OOC: How much silver each gets if we split evenly?

“Come now good Calder let’s not trouble ourselves with that now. There will be time enough for counting when the delving’s done! Who knows what other riches we my find here?”

Laila stays where she is, watching the two doors as the others explore the passageway.

Corvin and Bretwald inch forward, the rest of the party watching them go, guarding the rear.

The two men come to a small circular chamber with no other exits. The wall is covered with markings that follow some strange geometric principle. that is beyond the two adventurers ken.

A wand hangs in the air in the middle of the chamber. It is rotating about its centre, at a rate of roughly one revolution a second. One end of the wand glows a dull red, the other sparkles with blue-white light. The central section is black and unreflective.

“Truly astonishing Father don’t you think?” Corvin exclaims with unconcealed enthusiasm. “Mighty sorcery must be at work to suspend this wand like this for only the Good Lord knows how many centuries. I wonder what one is meant to do here? Or perhaps it’s a trap? Another defence set to guard Vallandr’s tomb from would be robbers...errr like us I suppose...”

"The wisdom of past ages is unknowable to us modern men." mused the priest. "It may be that it proves best to leave well alone. If we feel that it would be best toi attempt to move the thing, well, best to make a solid grip 'pon it. Maybe a two handed grasp, and take each end.."

“Father your suggestion makes sense were this a mere matter of the physics. But I have some little lore on these matters and I surmise that this may be a magical wand. Perhaps it even belonged to Vallandr’s wizard, Mathor? In matters of wands the “business” end so to speak is the point but here it seems that perhaps both ends have some dweomer attached? Hmmmm. As a practical matter the middle ought to be easier to grasp, it traversing a much smaller circle than the ends. I don’t suppose you have a glove upon your person?”

If Bretwald has a glove Corvin will don it, but otherwise he will attempt to reach in with his naked hand (I suspect his left given he’s a Southpaw and try to seize the wand by the inert middle.

OOC if a REF test is required he fails rolled 18 vs 13!

The gloveless Corvin reaches for the rotating wand, trying to grab it at the black central part, rather than the red or blue ends.

He falters and stumbles as he reaches, but as he falls he manages to gain purchase in the centre, just missing one end.

The wand falls to the ground, taking Corvin with it.

Bretwald looks on concerned.

The party waiting outside hear a thump.

Cursing and muttering Corvin tries to regain some shred of dignity and gingerly picks up the wand by the middle and examines it closely.

“Ah yes. Hmmmm” he says whilst trying to discern the method of calling forth powerful magic from within it.

INT or PSY check perhaps?

Hearing the noise, Calder rushes in and tries to see what happened.
