We've got a great deal of material for the Khanates on the way and my Thousand Islands material is still ticking upwards. Chapelstone, Thuland and Brymstone materials still cooking.

If Ian ( and Dave) can wangle it I'd love to see a massive campaign book come out based on Bloodsword with perhaps mini-gazeteers for each area covered by the 4 sections of the campaign.

1) Krarth
2) The Kingdom of Wyrd
3) Crescentium and surrounds
4) Spyte and inner Krarth.

How about you mob?

Outside of Ellesland, Krarth is my favourite region of Legend. For me, the attraction of Legend is the folkloric feel it has - those old British myths and fairy tales given life amongst the creeping shadows. Second to British folklore in appeal to me is central European folklore and for that taste of gothic horror, I can recommend the first half of Marcus Sedgewick's Swordhand is Singing (the sequel, Kiss of Death, is a better book/story, in my opinion, but as it's set a little later in Legend's timeline (and in Venice, rather than a rural community) not as directly relevant as a Dragon Warriors source).

But rather than broad source books, I like sites - rather than a sourcebook on Krarth, I'd perhaps prefer a supplement focusing on Spyte. It could still include sections on the history of Krarth, culture, professions, etc., but being centred on the main landmark provides a much bigger hook for adventure than something less focused. The same could be said for a supplement looking at the Shadowlords of the Gohala Plain, for example.

I wonder, when thinking about Dragon Warriors in other regions, especially ones as foreign to Ellesland as Khitai and Yamato, exactly what we're talking about - are we actually talking about a different game with the same mechanics? We could also do a "Dragon Warriors in Space" supplement - there's plenty of space horror from which to draw inspiration, and I'm sure we could do it better than Warhammer, too :).

For me, what makes Dragon Warriors special is the susurration of horror that pervades Legend, specifically the folkloric malice with which the unknown harasses ignorant peoples. I think if I were to be interested in a sourcebook for Khitai and Yamato, it wouldn't be so much to run a game in these regions, but to run a character from these regions in Ellesland (or neighbouring regions).

But maybe I'm overthinking (not for the first time that I've been accused of that!)

Anyone interested in kicking off such a project could do worse that borrow my maps of Yamato (the source for which came from Dave M, so they're about as canon as you'll get anywhere):

http://cobwebbedforest.co.uk/library/maps.php?qs=yamato

[And, yes, I know that URL will be changing when I finish updating the site with the new layouts in a few weeks, but I'll make the maps easy to find again, I promise :)]

Well true, maybe a source book on the battlepits of krarth would be more interesting than a dragwars supplement on oriental adventures. I'm familiar with adnd 1st ed version, wonder if people would care to game in such a setting. Might be preferable if they read up and watched movies and then decided whether they want to spend a long campaign in such an environment.

I think if a Dragon Warriors supplement made the Orient look like Hollywood does, then I definitely wouldn't want to play it...

Krarth keeps reminding me somewhat of Nightlund, a region in the Dragonlance world of Krynn. It is a cold barren wasteland in which nothing grows. Horrific creatures, many of them magical constructs or summons from other planes, roam the land devouring beings foolhardy enough to be caught by them out in the open wilderness.

I would love to see this land, it's history, lore, personalities, fleshed out more. Including Spyte and the Battlepits.

I would also like to see the Kingdom of Wyrd more. It reminds me of Icereach, also in Dragonlance Krynn. Where a single powerful wizard rules absolutely over a frozen wasteland inhabited by barbarian tribes, ferocious bears and wolves, and other viler creatures.

Another region of great personal interest would be Crescentium, Ibrahim and the rest of the so-called Crusader Lands, and the southern lands of the Ta'ashim kingdoms.

I see Krarth as much more of a high-magic domain than Ellesland and a more traditional dark FRPG setting. A great place for magical creatures to roam - less of the subtle fey malice of Ellesland and more of the tangible horror of hellions, undead, and sorcerous constructs. Fleshing out Krarth could attract many more traditional FRPG-ers to Dragon Warriors. Spyte and the Battlepits would also make for great classic dungeon crawls - pointless sprawling megadungeons filled with magic, treasure, and horror. There is still a real market for this style of play and one that DW is ripe to tap as it already has a good reputation amongst old-school FRPGers. The lethality of combat in DW, however, doesn't really lend itself to long-winded hack-and-slash romps as other RPGs, though, so a balance would need to be struck between the combat element and the thoughtful navigation through the underworlds to avoid such confrontations.

Hmmm... I guess we should set it prior to the events of the Chronicles of the Magi, then... ;). But i would especially like to see the Seer character profession explored (potentially as a specialist Mystic profession, like Demonologists are to Sorcerers) - prophecy in the hands of player characters has never, in my experience, had a good set of mechanics behind it and we're a clever enough bunch of experienced RPGers on this forum to come up with something, I'm sure :).
