I'm feeling nostalgic.

I got most of my Dragon Warriors books as a child from a rather crowded independent bookshop in my hometown of Frankston, Victoria, Australia - the first four books from there.

It was the only bookshop in town and it meant a lot to me.

And I still remember the electric feeling as I picked up the original Dragon Warriors book from a shelf in the childrens' section at the back. And that really did change my life in a lot of ways.

I just found out that the man who started that bookshop, Phillip Robinson, has passed away.

And so Saint Phillip Robin's Son will be added to the list of Saints in my Dragon Warriors campaign.

Even though all his efforts could never manage to find a copy of The Power of Darkness (I finally got that from the games shop around the corner).

Minotaur Books, Swanston Street (its old location) Melbourne, 1985. Saw the first book and immediately snapped it up. Most or all of the other books were picked up at the same store as they were released. In those days, I'd head into the city maybe twice a month to check out Mind Games and Minotaur Books.

Finding unexpected new releases was amazing - no internet or grapevine, just new RPG stuff appearing out of nowhere. Probably the biggest surprise was the release of Book 6. I mean, that came out of the blue. A hefty and detailed setting, Warlocks, all sorts of cool stuff. Just sitting in the bookstore one day when I'd had zero knowledge or expectation of it. Ah, the nostalgia.

The specifics are lost to time, but I suspect it may have been Boots the Chemist...
