With my current resurgence in creativity and focus, I've returned to the Brymstone guide, wrangled some more information from Dave, and even got hold of the original Red Giant articles although, sadly, except for some editing of Robert's original text, there was no new material in those articles (but it was interesting to see how the material had been massaged for publication).
Having typed up all the hand-written or scanned type, I'm currently now sitting on 81 pages of Brymstone gold. The big things I need to complete next are:
- Convert the new Elementalist spells from the Runequest stats I have into Dragon Warriors format.
- Render the floor plan for the First and Last Inn in Campaign Cartographer.
- There's a section on "Encounters and Gossip" for which I only have bare bones, so need to do some significant fleshing-out of that (or drop it from the doc).
- There's a demon mentioned in the campaign that I plan to create as a Noble Demon to tie it more into how demons are portrayed in In from the Cold and the Players' Guide.
- The campaign (currently taking up over a third of the book) generally needs fleshing out with some handouts, NPC characteristics, mood text, location maps, etc.
- Create indices and cross-references.
- Format the b*gger into something presentable.
So how long will this take? Well, as I have no time off work planned between now and (a northern hemisphere) Summer, I estimate it will take me at least two weeks, on average, to do each of those things, which would mean I wouldn't be ready to even start proofing and editing (and possibly starting again on some sections...) until late Spring, but I'd like to think I'll have something ready to share within a year of starting this little project (which I think was back in September 2015), then it's just a case of running it past Dave and Robert to make sure they're happy with how I've used their copyrighted material.
This is a surprisingly rewarding activity, which I'd recommend to anyone
