Chiemeka looks over to Kuublu and shrugs, then returns to staring at the map. If there are some familiar landmarks, is it possible to work out our current location on the map?

As Kuublu looks about he sees that the alcoves have strange moon-like shapes indicating different moon phases set into the floor of each one. Some are softly glowing blue....others are glowing white.

GM -- does Chastu see the same?

( Yes. I'll spoiler stuff if only some can see it.)

The only truly familiar landmark he can see re the Thanagost Mountains......it would seem that the largest city on the tableau is where they currently stand.

Noting it he determines that the ancient tomb where Prince Kuublu had received his spear is marked as well....though the lake is much changed in shape...

There appear to be a dozen other cities and towns marked locally but having never travelled this way he is unsure if they are still extant.

Looking to his homeland on the north coast he sees a large coastal settlement where he knows now there is a small fishing and trading town surrounded by green hills.....he wonders now what lies beneath those hills.

Chiemeka looks at the others.

I think this map may be *ancient*. The landscape that we know is there, but greatly changed.

He looks around, wondering just how old this tower might be. Surely nothing from that long ago could have survived to the present time..?

"Ancient? I have heard stories passed through the ancestors but they are strange. Tropics where there is now desert, and desert in the rich hunting grounds of today. Strange stories and hard to believe."

Ikanso wonders if he should touch anything. For now he stands beside the prince

Kuublu suspects there must be some way out apart from the way they came. Maybe theres a door mechanism somewhere. If only they had a sapper! They could either make an entrance or discover hidden passages.

He'll look at where they are on the map and see if he can depress a button or other mechanism.

The floor appears to be smooth and flat with no buttons or switches present.
