From the groans that Bretwald makes as he stokes the flames, and the scorchmarks on his robes, Lucky is sure that he is hurting. "Yes, that terrible Grim burnt me with his ungodly flames. Let's get these fellow's bodies into the fire and then I can rest." |

Corvin emerges from the trees onto the trail and approaches Bretwald and Lucky. “You’ve been keeping busy I see.” he notes looking at the pile of corpses. “I think we’ve found what Serpent Tongue and his men were doing. There’s a great circular hole through the trees there. I think they may have uncovered it rather than dug it themselves. It’s huge across and is clearly the work of men or perhaps fey creatures. There were half a dozen ropes anchored trailing down into it. We looked down but could not see the bottom. There’s some sort of mist obscuring our view.” Corvin paused scratching his chin thoughtfully before continuing. “Have you heard of any such great entryway to the underworld Father? I wonder what manner of fiends and denizens of the dark might emerge from it.” He snaps back from his intellectual meandering and curtly concludes “In any event Father I think, I should say we think, the best plan is to rest tonight off the road but a sufficient distance from the hole and investigate the hole in the morning. You’re wounded Father, scorched by that scoundrel Jharak. I have a poultice I can apply to soothe yourself burns somewhat. How does that all sound? Good? We’re agreed then.” Corvin starts heading back towards the hole saying over his shoulder “As God fearing men we cannot let this possible gateway to Hell go unmarked and explored. Who knows what knowledge or treasure we might find? And of course it would be to fail in our duty to the good people of Gorburn if we left it unexplored and them open to attack from foul beasts from beneath the Earth!” Corvin heads off not looking to see if he is followed, clearly excited at the prospect of uncovering some hidden knowledge and mystery. |

Perhaps Corvin hears Bretwald's cry as he moves back to the hole. "We need to be in Fenring Forest by moonrise tomorrow night!" OOC - Gorburn? They can fend for themselves. |

OOC isn’t Gorburn the name of Aldred’s fief or did I just insert some non/semi-cannon? Possibly/maybe/no Running to work. Later. |
