The older man with Sten looks at Corvin, taking his measure, and answers. "Mugger hasn't been much anywhere in the last few years. Not since his Maud died. He just drinks the last few coins he has away, whilst his farm slowly rots away."

Corvin steps back well clear of the corpulent Farmer Mugger and turns to address Sten and the older man with him whom he assumes is some relation based on the resemblance.

“I fear there is some vile pestilence or curse afoot in your town. Where is this fellow’s farm? Has he travelled somewhere or returned from a travel recently?”

From arm's length, Sten can see that there is more green in Mugger's mouth.

Sten leaves Mugger to his drink "Come, Pa. This here is Father Bretwald. Can you tell my father of the attack of Serpent Tongue and what we discovered about the bodies"

"Why do ye fear pestilence? What makes ye think a that?"

Mugger lies in the chair, occasionally shaking.

"It's good to see you again, Jacob. It's been nigh a year." says the priest.

Bretwald recounts the tale. For the sake of brevity - viewtopic.php?f=19&t=596&start=30

Jacob nods and ponders through the tale, until the priest ends his recount.

After Bretwald has finished his recounting of events Corvin replies gesturing disdainfully at Mugger “See this green spittle. Think you that is something natural? Evidence of the humours in balance? I think not. Is he a cow to be chewing green cud? Fat enough for a pig perhaps. You’ve heard the tale the good Father has laid out for you. Do you suggest a man of the Church bears false witness? There’s pestilence and deviltry afoot in Saxton I am certain of it and you’d best be looking into it before more of the good folk of Saxton end up like those curs we put down on the road.”

If no one's looking after Mugger, Bedwere will go back over to him with some water, mixed with just a touch of wine if he can get it.

Laila watched the others play nursemaid to the old lush.

Their concerned faces seemed a trifle dramatic for an old man.

She got up and walked over, " Whats happening here?"

Corvin turns to Laila “This rotund fellow is apparently a local farmer. Whether he is the worse for wear merely on account of being drunk or whether he is afflicted by some pestilence is unclear. You’ll note he appears to have green substance inside him which looks much like the poison Serpent Tongue spat at our good knight here.

This is a most curious and potentially deadly situation I’m sure you’ll agree.

Corvin pauses, gesturing at Sten’s companion (and presumably relative) before continuing “We have now, I assume, advised a person in authority within this good village of the dangers so perhaps honour is now satisfied and we can assist Father Bretwald with his business and when that is concluded perhaps return from whence we came and finish the unfinished business we left upon the road...” he concludes with a smirk.
