The companions are in good humor as they walk towards their destination, a mile or so west of the Forest River. As nightfall descends, Bretwald calls out.

"Here! You see! In the moonlight, the thread!"

You see he speaks true. Shining like spider silk in the moonlight, a glimmering line lies ahead, leading further into the forest.

"Most interesting." Sten grabs a stick and starts winding the thread onto it as we follow it along, traveling at the back of the party.

" Well, thats one true thing from your tale....hopefully it is the beginning of a trend.", Laila teased.

"I'll not argue with you, Mistress Laila, for I am unsure when you last... broke for toilet." quaffs the priest, in good humour and excitement, as the thread is found.

The light of the moon illuminates the thread as the party goes deeper into the deep woods.

Corvin watches Sten with eyebrows raised in disapproval.

"Well this is most fascinating and" he nods in Bretwald's direction "most reassuring. But I am not convinced that your course of action is the most prudent one Sir Sten. Might we not wish to follow along the thread to make our way back to the good village of Saxton?"

He pauses for a moment, easing his sword in its scabbard, before continuing along with the group.

"I suppose what's done is done and if we're delayed I assume the thread will not show until the next full moon."

OOC what's the light like. Do we need lanterns or is the moonlight sufficient, even in the trees?

OOC -- the light is good enough to follow the thread, but I wouldn't rely on it for much for than that. Gnarled tree roots can be a bit nasty.

Calder observes Sten’s actions trying to figure out his intent before comprehending.

“Good job, Sir Sten,” he grins, following his companions

Laila chuckled and slapped the old priest on the back, " Lets see how we go without torches or lanterns for now. The ljosalfar might be a bit grumpy about folks carrying fire in their woods."

With a shake of his head Corvin mutters to himself “Mercanians can see in the dark now can they?” He peers into the gloom alert for hidden ambushers...

"Then we take it slowly and carefully." says the priest. "It would be well that when we reach Vallandr's resting place, we do not do so with sprains and aches."

"Slowly and carefully. Quiet would be prudent as well."
