Dragon Warriors

"What's going on?" Corvin hisses loudly towards the front of the group, silently cursing at the noise.

It's quiet...too quiet.

Leaning close he whispers in Bretwald's ear "This forest is too quiet and still. Where are the noises of the night? Are we under some faerie glamour already?"

"I have a lantern in my backpack, let me light it for you", Drystan says to Calder. He drops on one knee, picks up the lantern and flint & tinder, and when it's lit he offers it to Calder: "The darkness is now solved, the silence is something I'm unable to do anything about unless you all want me to sing, which I do not recommend". With that he gets up and readies his bow.

As the lantern is lit, you hear an audible crack ahead of you, perhaps 10 metres away.

Calder espies something by his feet, now that there is a steadier light. It's perhaps what tripped him...

"You're right, Master Corvin. It's quiet. Too quiet. Yet, what can we do? We must travel forward with care."

At the noise ahead Corvin slowly eases his sword out of its sheath and calls to mind powerful magics to smite any who might challenge them...(or at least that's what he hopes will happen). He nods at Bretwald's wisdom and steps forward cautiously, trying to make as little noise as a castle raised lad, unused to the thick forest, can manage.

Calder signals to halt and examines the piece

Laila looks concerned at the sound of blades being unsheathed.

" Careful. We are guests here."

Calder bends down and looks at what has tripped him, the light of the lantern making this easier for him.

A piece of rock sits at his feet. It would fit in his hand. What he can see without taking hold of it is that it's light red in colour, and looks to be oval shaped.

The cracking ahead of you seems to be a one-off -- you hear nothing else.

As Calder bends down, the forest still seems eeerily still and quiet. The occasion screech of owls is all that you hear. The trees around you seem dark and foreboding.
