Afore any of you proceed further than the entry to the corridor, those of you leaving the web room behind, coming from the east, and those who came from the windy room, from the south, you hear the sound of footsteps. They are coming from the south. The corridor you are in heads west, and seems to turn to the north. |

Drystan follows into the corridor but when the sound of the steps is heard he stops and seems to focus on something in the distant darkness. |

Sten, Laila and Calder -- As you approach the bend in the corridor, Sten drops his sword as he bends down to pick it up a flagstone gives slightly under his feet. There is an ominous click. Suddenly a massive gleaming axe-blade swings out of the side wall — it slams throughyou three, yet luckily you dodge, the blade nearly relieving Sten of his head. As you step back, the flagstone clicks, and the blade slams back into the wall. Sten looks at Laila "That was lucky, we probably shouldn't step on that stone." Drystan, alerted by the sound of footsteps to the south, concentrates and stares intently through the gloom. He is sure that he can see a sole man at the far entrance to the windy room, his way lit by a smouldering brand. |

Seeing at least one figure emerging from the gloom, the man, lowering his crossbow ever so slightly, calls out: ‘Friends! I come in peace! My name is Maximus Codan though most call me Max. I seek a man named Corvin Rath.’ |

Laila examines herself for damage from the blade and then nods to Sten, " Agreed." Laila waves to the stranger, " Long lost illegitimate son or debt collector?" |
