"Nah," says another. "You have that wrong. Jack, e's the ghost of a fellow who went up there to search out the other end of a rainbow, but were cursed by what he found."

Banter goes back and forth, each iteration of Jack becoming increasingly more unlikely.

Bretwald speaks up. "There has been no mention of these miscreants carrying such a grand sword as Sir Beorn bid found. Maybe it will be with it's carrier, that tax-fellow."

"So we're sword seekers gain then.", she said patting Vallandars blade at her side.

"Such is the way of things." says Lucky. The little fellow claps his hands over his mouth in sheer surprise.

"Let us go up by this Dell see if we can pick up the trail."

"You'd find it soon enough but I'll get me boy to show you the way. Not right near to it, but close enough to get you there."

Hyple calls for his lad, a small fellow, flaxenhaired. "Bern. You're to guide these folk toward Hob's Dell. Dont you get too near and straight back, do you hear me, lad?"

The boy nods in assent.

Max considers Bern and the journey ahead of them.

He’d joined with the exploration of Vallander’s tomb in part to satisfy his wanderlust. This current task he was an entirely different proposition.

Still, having given his word so he was in for the duration - it was something his reputation as a professional was based on.

Glancing around at the others he finally lets his gaze settle on the flaxon haired fellow. Retrieving a couple of coins from his belt pouch he says, ‘consider this a deposit for your services, young sir. They’ll be two more if you get us to where we need to be.’

The boy pockets the coin from Max and with a sniff of his nose and a wipe on his sleeve, he says "Most grateful. When are we off then?"

Laila fixed Lucky with a look, " So your finding your way back then?"

" No time like the present.", Laila winks at Bern.
