I think there are some ideas, like a dedicate archer class. I'm working on the sapper class. I get the feeling non combat professions like physician class might work. However I'd like to depart from combat skills to other roles. Might not be the best for adventuring but there are other roles for adventuring I'm sure.

Are there other professions that might be worth exploring? I'm strongly against too many special skills. I figure a jester profession will have to rely on a lot of player contribution rather than imposing rules. At least not until rank 8.

An observation... anybody thinking of doing profession related work might want to wait a few weeks because a free download will be appearing that may give you another set of ideas as to how certain different types of characters could be created.

And just to be clear - yes, I was talking about Cadaver Draconis which is now available.

Aha! I'm surprised nobody created a physician profession. I think there is much potential for a jester profession, but I wouldnt' want to give too many super powers....

Priests should make passable chirugeons. Entertainer passing into Courtier should handle your Jestering needs. ;)

Hm.. plenty of other ideas, I think WFRP had some of the most insane roles I've seen. Torturer and jailhouse keeper... what are they doing away from their duties?

Guess it has to be fun professions. I keep looking to military history for inspiration. Most of the best professions seem to be more combat oriented. Depends on the kind of adventures you play I guess.

I do think we should make a quick conversion to orc or Halfling chart. Take the basic differences between humans and dwarves or humans and elves and apply those differences to the standard profession stats.

I think this approach assumes that non-human races could hold professional occupations similar to those of the human realm, which I think might push at the boundaries of what makes Legend unique and special. The D&D approach is very much to make dwarves exactly like humans, but just a bit shorter and grumpier, and elves are also exactly like humans, only with slightly pointer ears and longer lifespans. I prefer my non-human sentients to be truly alien and fathomless to the ignorant adventurers that blunder around their domains. I blame Star Trek for brainwashing a generation of folks into thinking aliens were exactly like us, just with a few cosmetic or prosthetic embellishments :D.

Heh, I remember some online game where I played alien arachnids and I suggested to some single organism space entity, lets war against these four limbed primates.

I understand the value of the mystical races and keeping them at a distance. Makes them more unique. But I think some races can be played, orcs knights in full plate or other variations. I take strong inspiration from Master of Magic, an ol' pc game amongst other influences.

Maybe that is an idea, expansion into professions in other races.... Anyone want to play a Hellion?
