What penalties should be given for undead in plate armour? If the living can't wear plate without the burden, shouldn't we apply the same to skeletons and zombies? Should we just use the higher AF and disregarding stabbing penalties?

Maybe it depends who they were in life - can the skeleton or zombie of a Knight or Barbarian fight as well in armour when they're undead as when they were alive?

I do wonder to what extent one can randomize stats for various npcs and all. I figure a GM could do it if he wants to put the efforts in. Hm, now that I think about it, is it possible that original book 4 had reflexes stats as opposed to book 1? I suppose with the DW system, it should be easy to recall that a 'stronger than average' strength 13-15 npc would have + 1 ATTACK. Something to note when players decide to engage farmers or whatnot.

I'd consider whether a skeleton could even wear plate armour unless it was specifically made for them. This is less of an issue for a zombie, but as its flesh deteriorates, it would shed pieces of armour - the weight of the plate might even speed up this process (perhaps to the tune of 1HP per round of strenuous activity, like combat, losing 1AF for every cumulative 5HP damage (from any source)?)

Assuming you allow skeletons and zombies in plate armour (or any armour), I'd apply the same Att/Def penalties as if the creature was a sorcerer (i.e, completely non-proficient - skeletons and zombies are effectively mindless automatons, enjoying the passive benefits of the armour (AF) but without the skill to offset the combat penalties for the loss of mobility and speed). Consider also that you might be giving the characters lots of suits of valuable plate armour to sell (assuming you allow this sort of thing in your games).

If only there was someone who had put together an online application that could remove this burden from a hard-working Dragon Warriors GM...

Oh wait, there is!

Just set the Rank to zero and you'll get a randomly generated NPC, with calculated secondary ability scores, rounded off with a non-adventuring profession and a couple of personality traits to inspire your role-playing of that NPC.

If I'm remembering correctly, the rules only specifically state that certain professions are impaired by wearing heavy armour. If you were taking things literally, I think you could argue that a normal human being can fight without penalty in armour because there's nothing to say otherwise. As soon as you become a sorcerer, elementalist etc you suffer a penalty.

Common sense says something different of course.

Cheers,

Just like a warlock getting worse at fighting as he goes up in rank :?. There are some odd little kinks in the Dragon Warriors system, but it kinda makes it all the more endearing for it.
