Jaafan winced at the pain of the volucreth blade digging in to his shoulder. For a moment he was worried, and then as the volucreth in front of him cast his eyes about for its companions Jaafan had an idea and grinned widely. These beasts had eyes just as he did, and he'd learned early on how to fight dirty against things with eyes. He stepped back and raised his stolen blade as if to strike, and when the bird person moved to react he kicked up dirt and leaves in to the creatures face, attempting to blind it.
Whether his trick was effective or not didn't matter much, as he knew he had to escape the chaos if he wanted to survive long enough to get the glory he deserved for rescuing the other slaves. He turned and ran, back through the combat that was raging between the herd animals and the volucreth slavers, putting as much chaos between himself and the one that was focused on him. If he made it in to the jungle alive, he planned on circling wide, adding yet more time to the pursuit of the volucreth, back around to where he'd first spotted the herd animals. There he'd hopefully be able to pick up the trail of the strangers and the other captives.
OOC - So that's a dirty trick to blind the one volucreth, and then regardless of if it works, a run through the gauntlet to try and escape again.
Jaafan ran through the chaos; ducking tails and Volucreth blades as he tried to make his way through the chaos he was almost clear when a Volucreth blade dug deep into his back stumbling him to the ground and almost having him ploughed under by one of the grazing beasts....he managed to scrabble up and away and ran into the bush running for his life....
....about 40m later he crashed directly into Kuublu coming the other direction.
